Longhop Old Vine Grenache 2022

Description

Longhop is the impressive partnership of Domenic Torzi and Tim Freeland; designed to showcase what the Adelaide Plains and adjoining Mt Lofty Ranges regions does best.  Sourcing precious old vine “survival plantings” of the 1950’s coupled with a non-interventional approach to winemaking, the wines of Longhop are always generously flavoured and packed with personality.

This 2022 Longhop Grenache is another super value red; typically approachable it delivers plenty of lively dark cherry, raspberry and plum flavours with some dried herb and subtle spice notes. Offering impressive balance and depth, this is a delicious Grenache ready to be enjoyed now.

“Raspberry, hazelnut, a bit gluey, but also has perfume, along with mint and some spice. It’s medium to full-bodied, all poached strawberry and raspberry, a bit edgy and warm in alcohol, but sure-footed with light grainy tannin and a little graphite grip, and I like the nutty slightly umami flavours too. It’s a pleasing wine. strawberry jelly, mint and nuts, with a finish of solid length. Very easy to like. Rated: 91 Points Tasted: Dec22 14.5% alc. $25 Screwcap Drink: 2022 – 2026+”- Gary Walsh, The Wine Front.
